WOLVES, KEY TERMS

PACK ; what the group is called.

ULFRIC ; male or female leader, the Ulfric is the sole dominator of the wolf pack and makes the final decisions on business pertaining to the pack.

LUPA / LUPAE ; the mate, male or female, to the Ulfric.

GERI ; a second in command in the pack.

FREKI ; a second in command in the pack.

SKOLL ; bodyguard to the Ulfric and/or Lupa/Lupae.

HATI ; bodyguard to the Ulfric and/or Lupa/Lupae.

FREYJA ; an independent Lupa who separates herself from the Ulfric and taunts him to reclaim her. the rest of the pack, will fight to the death in order to be the one to claim her.

FENRIR ; the challenger or rival of the leader, who has the intention of challenging the Ulfric for the title. This fight is to the death.

BOLVERK ; the enforcer, or evildoer, the one who doesn't mind getting his hands dirty to do important tasks for the leader.

BAUGI, SUTTUNG, GUNNLOD ; assistants to the Bolverk

ERATOS, EOS ; mentors to newly-turned wolves.

SVAKT ; the weakest member of the pack, and who calls for the protection of the entire group.

MUNIN ; the spirits or memories of dead pack members.

LUPANAR ; the sacred place of the wolf Pack.

The wolves, collectively, are[/size] the most prevalent lycanthrope in the world. They gather together in groups known as Packs. These packs are systematically run on sheer dominance alone. Wolf Packs are run primarily by one powerful alpha, that can be either male or female. The male or female is known as a Ulfric. Whoever claims their dominance over the Pack, is the one in charge, and often the roles of male versus female can often occur; this coming from a rival wishing to move up and claim the role of Wolf King, themselves. The pack is always in constant motion, with the ever-changing ranks of going up in dominance, to getting shoved down in submission.

Wolves, orchrestate the best while in Packs. Wolves that tend to be solitary and independent, do not often live well on their own. While they are alpha, without a backing group, they are on by themselves in terms of protection, and stand without a responsible defense system. These Wolves are known as "rogues," and "rogues" in the city are often regarded with a terrible disposition to members of the territory's pack. Wolves must be in a Pack to thrive, to ascend in rank and power, to arrive at alpha from beta. Some alphas when reaching a certain mark, will branch out to a different area to form their own group, when enough experience is warrented.

The Pack is guided by the main alpha canid, be it either male or female, the Ulfric. They are proceeded by a Freki and Geri, both are Seconds in Command. They preside over the rest of the Pack when the leaders are not present. Under them, the Ulfric or Ulfreya is able to assign a wolf as the Bolverk, or the Pack's "evildoer" who goes out to perform different tasks as requested by the Pack King or Queen. These Bolverks are very hostile, and capable in handling themselves in just about any situation notable.

A Wolf Pack is all about the challenges, as any canine are prone to execute themselves within. When a challenge is thrown, backing down by the other opponent shows submission. The challenge ensues until the other is too injured to continue, and claims and sees the other as dominant over them. This same challenge is the same, when a Fenrir, or a rival of the Ulfric demands to battle for the ultimate title. This challenge is fought at the Wolf's sacred ground, called the Lupanar, and is fought until one of the opponents is dead.

A dominant Pack member may issue any order to a submissive member, provided that the dominant does not order the submissive to do anything illegal. A submissive pack member, may seek out protection of another member. When this occurs, any challenge that comes to the submissive, must be faced and acknowledged on behalf of the person that issued the protection. It is possible, that non-wolf members of the Pack, can also be considered alpha to certain members, or even regarded as full members of the Pack.

Wolves, are considered, the most powerful lycanthrope in the shapeshifter community. It is also the most popular lycanthrope, as the Wolf strain is highly contagious.


It is very important to greet the Ulfric or Ulfreya with a sign of respect, by greeting them openly by rubbing their nose along their cheek to the back of their ear. This ultimately shows their loyalty to the leader, as well as a form of submission, even by alphas in the Wolf Pack. Sometimes, when another leader or wolf enters the territory, they bring a gift to the Ulfric/Ulfreya, a form of inquest to enter. Wolf Packs are very open to new members, but also very cautious of who they allow.

Wolves' vocal range can change to what the howl is signifying for; a command, to alert the rest of the Pack, a distress signal, to communicate with other Packs. A Wolf howl is often regarded as being similiar to a choir of humans singing, each with their own distinct harmonious pitch.

Touch, as often in the lycan community, is an important aspect, to make that contact with another in the pack can attribute to many different qualities. If a submissive wolf is in a crowd, feeling threatened, the submissive may approach the dominant, and the simple act of holding out their hand to touch the submissive clearly indicates a form of protection the dominant will have over the submissive.

During the full moon, or hunting rituals, the Wolf Pack will gather at their most sacred place: The Lupanar. The Lupanar serves as a gathering place for all the wolves to congregate; to meet and discuss anything that has become important to acknowledge. It is here, that challenges are exercised and carried out. Then the hunt begins, as the Pack ascends into animal form and charge into the woods. The Lupanar, is also the place, the leaders of the Pack can summon the Munin. The Munin, like the Jaguars, is the ability to communicate with long dead pack members, seeking out wisdom, guidance, and direction.

-- A Lycan must have all the powers according to their rank, Omega, Beta, Alpha, in order for them to move to the next rank: Omega to Beta, Beta to Alpha. An Omega buying Beta, once they have all Beta powers, they are considered a Beta. Once the Alpha has collected all of the necessary abilities for a Titled position, they will have enough to possibly forge their own group, depending if the group does not already have a leader. If the group does not have a leader, the leadership gain must occur in in-character play.

GENERAL LYCAN ABILITIES

[ INCREASED STRENGTH ] ; All lycans have the incredible natural strength that comes when one is infected with lycanthropy. Increased strength is three times of that of a human being, which means bench pressing a car.

[ HEIGHTENED SENSES ] ; A lycan is better equipped with stronger senses that give them the ability of sight, hearing, and most importantly smell. All in which is to help them track their prey, if it were.

[ INCREASED SPEED ] ; Much like strength, lycans have the natural ability to be faster twice of that of a human being.

[ SELF HEALING ] ; Lycans that are injured, heal faster than a normal person. However, the speed of healing can differ from one rank to the other. Lycans that are in the Omega ranking range are generally the weakest member of any group. Alphas will heal the quickest out of all ranks. Healing can come normally or exceptionally when the lycan changes form to mend broken limbs, even amputated limbs. Any damage from silver or vampire bites will heal humanly slow.

ALPHA ABILITIES

[ PARTIAL SHIFT ] ; Alphas can partially change without a full shapeshift. The Partial Shift means the lycan can extend claws, fangs, or change any other body part into the animal form without having to go through the entire process.

[ SUMMON ] ; An Alpha ability that allows the shapeshifter to force another of their same species to shapeshift. There is also the possibility, the Alpha if powerful enough, can force others to shapeshift, as well. This is a process that brings the animal to the surface of a less powerful member, this includes betas and omegas, if they are acting outwardly or if they are injured. This can also be used in a challenge between to lycanthropes, that want to prove who is the more powerful.

[ LIFT BURDEN ] ; The Alphas have the beginning ability to soothe another's beast of their own specie of lycan. If a weaker member has come under stress or emotional turmoil, this gives the Alpha the ability to calm that member into a small form of "submission." If the weak member, which includes Betas and Omegas, are in their animal form, the Alpha can force them back into being human.

[ DEMAND LOYALTY ] ; Alphas now can demand a weaker member, including Betas and Omegas to loyalty. The Alphas, directly underneath the Titled lycan, carries certain responsibilities that include leading, guiding, mentoring, and protecting the other members. If a member acts out against the group, in the absense of a leader, the Alpha can step in and take certain matters into their own hands in place of the leader.

[ SWIFT SHIFT (HUMAN) ] ; This is the follow up to the power Swift Shift (Beast) that gives the Alpha the ability to quickly change from one form to another, without potentially reaching an exhaustion point and collapsing. The Alpha can go from human to animal form, and back to human form without much of the pain involved, and without lacking energy.

TITLED ABILITIES

( only 1-2 titled shapeshifters can be present in a group. even while the alpha ascends to a "title" ranking member of the group, they will still be considered only alpha, if there is a leader already present. most often, through in-character play, the alpha can challenge the leader. titled does not automatically make a lycan the head of any group, it means simply they have that capability. ) [/center]



[ SILENCE ] ; Silence is the opposite of Summon, where it allows the leader to calm and soothe another's beast of their own species. If powerful enough, the leader can also calm others of a different race. This silencing enables the leader to bring settle lycans down if they are stressed or riled. If the lycan is in their animal form, the leader can force them back to being human.

[ PARTIAL SILVER IMMUNITY ] ; Powerful dominant lycans who have been lycans for years, have been known to gain a small partial immunity against silver. They tend to heal quicker with silver-inflicted wounds.

[ DIVINE CONTROL ] ; The Titled, or the Leader, of the specific group have the incredible control over their beast. This gives the lycan the dominant ability to control and manage the community of their own beast. This provides them the easy transition from animal to human form without pain, without collapsing, or having to feed immediately afterward.

[ GOD'S RIGHT HAND ] ; Lycans at this point are very powerful and the power coming from them alerts shapeshifters they are near of their presence. The aura of the lycan leader is just a tad bit shinier and brighter than that of one in not a leadership role.

[ SHIELD THE CALL ] ; Shield the Call is the hightest form of shielding against any outside source. The dominant leader of any group can ignore a vampire's call, this also includes keeping the entire group in the shield, as well; this prevents the master vampire's call in being effective. Dominants with Shield the Call cannot be forced into a shift.

[ CORRELATION ] ; A very powerful dominant lycanthrope is known to have complete conversion with their beast. At times, when the human and beast side blend together, the characteristics tend to surface when the leader is in either form. This is a kind of social interaction with the animal. This is a very powerful connection, one that can never be broken.

WOLF ABILITIES

[ SPEEDING BULLET ] ; The wolves in the wild exercise their beautiful and graceful ability to run, and run they do. Wolves in the lycan community can do the very same, and they can run for hours and hours without having to rest once. The wolf can run and keep up their pace for hundreds of miles, running at a full speed of eighty miles an hour.

[ RED RIDIN HOOD ] ; Wolves in the wild tend to conceal themselves from prey when they hunt, becoming nearly invisible. Wolves with this ability are known to hide themselves accurately, blending in with their environment, and using other means of scents to cloud their own from potential predators. They can manipulate the smells in the air, making them "invisible" to another lycans and even a vampire's sense. Alpha wolves, especially, can do this very fluidly.

[ SIREN SONG ] ; This ability is first found when a Wolf ascends to the position of Beta. The Wolf is significantly known for their musical vocalization of a howl. The howl is used in different fashions; to summon a pack, to warn another pack of their presence, or to simply sing in a chorus at night to the moon. There is something to Siren Song that gives the Wolf the skill to allure unsuspecting enemies and foes by the way the "song" sounds. It is hard to ignore the sound of a Wolf's howl when in shifted form, for those that listen will become distracted and temporarily disoriented, easily forgetting what they were going to do. In human form, the voice of thet Wolf, is just as hypnotic. Newly turned vampires and weaker members are more susceptible to this, then lycan leaders and master vampires.

[ CALL THE MUNIN ] ; The Munin is an important aspect to a Wolf Pack, the spirits of the dead werewolves, that seem to be retained in the memory bank of the members. All of these memories are accessed by the Wolf that has the ability to speak with them. It is often seen as a rare ability, but it is not uncommon. Dead werewolves oftne become apart of the Munin when eaten by the Pack after they die. The Munin when they are summoned, their spirit enter the bodies of the Wolves, to send a burst of energy and strength, a need for speed and super-charged healing. The Munin helps to drive the Wolves to their every potential, often bringing memories of their lives to plague the mind of the Wolves. *ALPHA POWER ONLY

[ EMBRACE THE PACK ] ; This ability is found amongst Alphas, and works i the same traditional way it would for Bats and their "A Call of Arms." This skill grants Alpha wolves to summoning the rest of the Wolves, to congregate together. However, the drawback with Embrace the Pack, is the fact this ability should never be used unless the situation is severe enough, that the Alpha is put in the spot to use it. Embrace the Pack should be avoided unless the conditions are harsh enough that even the Alpha needs back up.

[ ON THE FRINGE ] ; This ability is unique in many aspects, as it is solely found as an attribute to Wolves who ascend in the ranking of the Pack's Skoll and Hati, the Pack's glorious and most honored bodyguards, just beneath the positions of Geri and/or Freki. The Skoll and Hati are presented with very rare talents that are not found in any other position in the Wolf Pack aside from the reigining Ulfric. The first being to temporarily blind an individual, by allowing the dark amber glow of their eyes to make direct eye contact with another. This effect blinds a person, sends the in the dark awhile, it wears off after a few hours. The second being to inflict pain on an individual, makign them feel as if every bone in their body is being crushed. On the Fringe can work on just about anyone, except other powerful lycan leaders and older master vampires. If the Wolf who has either of these positions loses it, they lose this power.

[ CALL OF THE WILD ] ; This skill is reserved for the Titled position in the Wolf Pack. The Wolf who executes Call of the Wild, increases the vocal range and power of their howl. This sharp, piercing howl is administered to a concentrated enemy, and from the sound are temporarily deafened because of it. They hear a terrible ringing that can last for several minutes to several hours, and if the Wolf is powerful enough, perhaps days. *TITLED POWER ONLY

[ CHILD OF LOKI ] ; Child of Loki is only found in the Ulfric, whether they be male or female. This skill is highly physical as it gives the Wolf the advantage upon shifting, to become a much larger wolf than the rest of the Pack. The very size of the dominanting Ulfric is always recognized, as it naturally commands the respect of those in the Pack, and even in the surrounding lycan community. *ULFRIC POWER ONLY
